In support of PCS’s week of action to defend public-facing tax offices, on 26 September there will be a protest outside the Triad in Bootle.
HMRC Enquiry Centres provide a free, local, face-to-face service that helps people deal with complex tax issues. From the self-employed to the unemployed, working parents to pensioners, disabled people to migrant workers, from small business owners to students, over 2.5 million ordinary people rely on this service every year.
Yet HMRC plan to axe this vital public service and force taxpayers to use faceless help lines at their own expense.
